The SESCU has a team of experts in the field of sport and exercise science, in particular environmental physiology.
Dr Neil Maxwell has published extensively in the international, scientific literature in areas allied to thermal and hypoxic tolerance and stress during exercise.
Similarly, Ash Willmott is undertaking his PhD in thermal physiology, specifically investigating the effects of physiological and immunological responses to extreme conditions in endurance athletes.
We have supported athletes to prepare for the Jungle Marathon in Brazil – a 220km ultra endurance race in 40°C and up to 99% relative humidity.
We have also worked with English Athletics to prepare athletes for Kenyan training camps, and the GB Bobsleigh team to prepare for Sochi 2014.
