Civil engineers plan, design, maintain and oversee the construction of structures, systems and infrastructure. They thus create, improve and protect our environment and contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities.
This degree apprenticeship provides an opportunity to upskill new and current employees through a funded 5-year integrated programme of engineering knowledge and professional skills. This is achieved through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training, blended learning and the opportunity to practise new skills in the work environment. On successful completion of their degree and the end point assessment, apprentices gain an honours degree and can register with the relevant professional engineering institution (Institution of Civil Engineers, ICE) as Incorporated Engineers. Apprenticeships benefit employers and individuals, and by boosting the skills of the employees they improve the performance of the organisation.
The Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship has been developed in line with the Apprenticeship Standard for a Civil Engineer and following the guidance provided by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM). It is an opportunity for employers of all sizes to attract high-calibre staff, upskill and motivate existing employees, develop expertise within their organisations and create future success in this sector.
Candidates must already be in employment in a relevant job role to be eligible for this degree apprenticeship.
