Contributors to the Business e-learning (BeL) research group within CIMER celebrated 11 years of research activity. Established in 2004, BeL set out with a dual mission:
- to support and develop technology support for learning, teaching and assessment within Brighton Business School and
- to undertake research in the technology enhanced learning field of study.
At this meeting, attendees reviewed achievements and outlined the potential for new collaborations and research support in the future.
Past achievements internally have included a range of staff seminars, hosted talks and individual coaching and mentoring with colleagues and representation on University committees. In addition, BeL has contributed regularly to the Brighton Learning and Teaching Conference and Pedagogy Research Conference, both hosted by the Centre for Learning and Teaching.
The external impact of the research group has been driven by the hosting of two international conferences, each attracting more than 200 delegates:
European Conference on ELearning 2011
European Conference on Social Media in 2014
and the annual Student Social Media Showcase has enabled students to showcase research with social media via the web and linked this to their CVs online.
Work on publications includes co-editorship of the Routledge journal Interactive Learning Environments, regular academic journal reviewing for BJET, IJSE and IETI and contributions to a range of conference papers, journal articles, book chapters, journal editorials and edited books.
In addition, we are conference committee members for various other conferences including:
