A bridging loan is a short-term loan designed to assist you in a temporary crisis, to cover only the cost of food and travel to your site of study.
All students can apply for a bridging loan. However, if you have any outstanding debt to the university you will not be eligible to apply.
How much can I receive?
The maximum Bridging Loan available is £50 a week or £100 a week for student parents or students with a disability that prevents them from working.
Payments are made in cash and you need to repay them within four weeks.
How to apply
You must apply in person to the Student Advice Service.
Before you apply you should have maximised all other sources of generating income, including a job, overdraft, loans from family or friends.
You will need to provide a current bank statement and a current University of Brighton library card.
