Patrick Brook is the Director of the UBLI, and is responsible for overall coordination and management. He has worked at the university since 1999. Patrick holds a BA (Hons), a Cambridge DELTA, and an MA in TESOL.
Theresa Clementson is the Summer Pre-sessional and Extended Masters co-ordinator, and delivers EAP and teacher education courses. She is also a course book author and test writer. Theresa holds a BA (Hons), a Cambridge DELTA, an MA in ELT and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Gary Hicks is co-ordinator for in-sessional provision and has taught at the university since 1996. Gary has two MAs, a Postgraduate Diploma in ELT Management, a Diploma in TESOL and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Ailsa Glen is the English for Academic Study co-ordinator, and has been involved in ELT for many years. She has designed and delivered a number of courses. Ailsa holds a BSc (Hons), a DELTA, an MA in Education Studies and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Nancy Carter co-ordinates the continuing professional development programme and Teaching English for Academic Purposes (TEAP) courses, as well as teaching pre-sessional English courses and bespoke teacher education courses. Nancy holds a BA (Hons), a TESOL Diploma, an MA and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Kim Pedersen has over 20 years’ experience in ELT and holds a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature, a Graduate Diploma in TESOL and has Approved Teacher Status from the British Dyslexia Association. Kim teaches on the pre-sessional and the in-sessional programmes.
Louise Roche has been teaching English since 1988 and teaches on the pre-sessional and the in-sessional programmes as well as coordinating courses within the bespoke programme. Louise holds a CELTA, a Diploma in TESOL and an MA in TESOL.
Mel Searle is the School of Humanities Administrative Manager and is responsible for the management of the administrative service supporting UBLI. She has worked at the University for over 20 years.
Emily Winslade is a Senior Administrator and oversees the administrative side of the UBLI and is also responsible for the finance. She is a Masters graduate from the University of Brighton, and is involved in volunteer work for the local community.
Martin Johnson is a Senior Administrator, and an international development and recruitment officer. He is a graduate of the University of Brighton, and is currently undertaking a Masters in TESOL at the University.
Annabel Wyatt provides overall administrative support and marketing for the UBLI, as well as delivering the student social program. She has a background in Marketing and ELT, having trained and taught in London.
Fernanda Valeriano Macarenko is a Learner Support Officer. She enjoys helping students to identify their learning needs. She has taught English in a variety of countries since 2002 and holds a Diploma in TESOL.
Ant Ryan is a Student Support and Guidance Tutor. He offers support and advice on issues including course-related worries, accommodation, money, stress, anxiety and time management.
