Academic entry requirements
Applicants should have a minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree and desirably hold or expect to achieve excellent grades in a masters degree, in a relevant subject from a UK university or comparable qualifications from another recognised university.
Applicants are also required to submit a research proposal of no more than 1,000 words.
Applications from underrepresented groups
We particularly encourage applications from groups that are currently underrepresented in HE: i.e. students from gender and sexuality minority groups (LGBTQ+), black, Asian and minority ethnic group and/or have refugee status. For the purposes of this opportunity, BAME is defined as Arab, Black, Asian, Chinese, Mixed minority ethnic backgrounds and Other minority ethnic backgrounds.
This project is based in the Centre of Transforming Sexuality and Gender and aligns with the Centre’s areas of expertise on gender, sexuality and social change and its aim to promote gender inclusive anti-racist research; to build research capacity in marginalized groups and produce cutting edge community-facing research on civic issues, health and well-being. The Centre has a thriving early career researcher community and PhD students in the Centre have access to a wide-ranging programme of activities, including conferences, methodology workshops, reading groups and research seminars; access to a dedicated creative methodologies lab, and sources of seed funding.
Due to the post’s funding it is only open to home applicants as defined by the Fees Regulations.
English language entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must have successfully completed a Secure English language Test (SELT) in the last two years. Applicants who have obtained or are studying for a UK degree may apply without a SELT. However, the university may request a SELT is taken as part of any award made.
English language IELTS requirements are minimum of 7.0 overall, 7 for writing, and none below 6.5.
