Research in cultural studies and in global studies at the University of Brighton is an interconnecting matrix across many aspects of the arts, humanities and social sciences.
The university has made significant contributions to the academic landscape in cultural and global studies, based particularly on our inter-disciplinary flexibility, our innovations in applied and co-productive research methods, and the supportive academic communities and networks we have developed over many years.
Major strengths are represented through our Centres of Research and Enterprise Excellence (COREs):
Added to these are the interests of Research and Enterprise Groups that cover disciplines across, for example, arts practices, education, performance, film and screen, digital humanities, heritage studies, urban environments, health, tourism, human geography, sports culture and gender studies.
We recommend that you approach a possible lead supervisor from one of the groups or centres. Once this relationship is established, the cross disciplinary potential of the university will be open to you. Our staff are open to discussions on any suitable projects in cultural and global studies, and can provide advice on application, proposals and any suitable funding.
