Marina Garcia Hortal completed her BSc in Physical Activity, Sport and Exercise Science at the National Institute of Sport, Madrid, in 2012. In 2013, she completed a MSc in Human Nutrition at the University of Granada, Spain, where she was awarded a studentship to work alongside Dr Brickley at the University of Brighton for three months. In 2014, Marina was awarded a PhD studentship at this University, and is currently looking at the effects of short-term detraining in young-healthy adults and is collaborating with the Laboratory of Protein Biochemistry at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, since she was awarded a Santander scholarship in April 2016. Marina is a BASES member since 2015.
