The prospects for youth employment in the UK

CROME hosted this event at the Cockcroft Building on 28 October 2016. Following recent EU-funded research, the event examined the findings relating to the prospects for youth employment in the UK.

Overview

We discussed the recent findings from our EU-funded projects looking at the prospects for youth employment in the UK.

We explored the following topics:

  • Ethnic and gender differences for young people finding work in the UK
  • Carolina Zuccotti and Jacqueline O’Reilly
  • Policy directions for the future of youth employment
  • Margherita Bussi and Jacqueline O’Reilly

Presentations were followed by open table discussions with young people, service deliverers and policymakers.

This event took place was an afternoon event on 28 October 2016 between 3–6pm and was followed by a drinks reception to enable networking.

Event impact

This event was an opportunity to share new findings and understanding about the current prospects for youth employment in the UK. The event brought together different interests, both from practice and research. Through dissemination and discussion, it is hoped that we contribute to the debate about what works and influence policymaking in this field with the aim of improving outcomes for people, society and the economy.
