Why would anyone work here?

This event took place on Tuesday 8 December at the Brighton Business School and was an opportunity to reflect on five years of CROME and listen to inspirational guest speaker, Gareth Jones.

Overview

Professor Jacqueline O’Reilly opened the seminar by outlining some of the highlights and projects developed at CROME over the past five years. Gareth Jones (Fellow of London Business School and IE Madrid) gave a thought-provoking presentation with vivid insights into what it takes to create a strong, attractive workplace culture and its positive impact on performance.

Presentation

Professor Jacqueline O’Reilly is the Head of CROME, The Centre for Research on Management and Employment at Brighton Business School. Her research interests are in the field of economic sociology and she is currently working on three key areas: labour market transitions, equality and diversity and fairness at work. She co-ordinates STYLE, a large-scale EU funded project examining how young people move into and out of employment and contributes to NEGOTIATE, an EU-funded research project examining the long- and short-term consequences of experiencing job insecurity or labour market exclusion in the transition to adulthood.

Professor Gareth Jones has a career which has spanned both the academic and business worlds. His insightful talks on business change and turnaround are fascinating and cover topics on promoting creativity as a source of competitive strength, strong leadership, and inspiring an effective organisational culture.
