The Centre for Research in Spatial, Environmental and Cultural Politics brings together researchers within the fields of human geography, the social and physical sciences, health, and the arts and humanities.
Research undertaken by the Centre members is innovative, multi-disciplinary, and often collaborative, with clear social and economic impact. Research projects both encompass and interrogate the natural and social sciences, and arts and humanities, creating new ways of thinking about, and engaging with, space, environment and culture.
The Centre nurtures both established and early career researchers, encouraging rigorous, creative and impactful research projects that question existing knowledge and practices. In doing so, our research helps to push the boundaries of disciplinary thinking on space, environment and culture in meaningful and socially productive ways.
We provide a collegial and collective research environment for University of Brighton colleagues and their external partners, which enables the development of new theoretical and empirical work of global quality.
