Compact Liaison Officer
My role is to oversee the university’s partnerships with Compact partner colleges and schools, mostly located in the south-east, and the development of outreach activities for post-16 students. Along with our Student Recruitment Coordinator, I work closely with our Compact coordinators in partner colleges and sixth forms to organise and deliver a comprehensive programme. The aim of this is to provide support throughout students’ college career, culminating in a successful application to university.
The outreach programme for Compact partner colleges and schools includes information and guidance sessions on higher education and subject-specific talks for students which enable them to make well informed choices. We also offer sessions for parents and carers about the application process and sessions for teachers and advisers updating them on changes to the university sector.
I liaise with academic colleagues across the university to facilitate academic outreach at Compact partner colleges and schools. This involves academics delivering talks and workshops either at our partner colleges and schools or as part of a ‘taster’ visit to the university. Academic outreach gives post-16 students a valuable insight into studying at university and experience of different subjects.
I am based at our Moulsecoomb campus in Brighton where I am currently covering Mel Lawrance’s maternity leave. If you are interested in finding out more about the Compact outreach programme, you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 01273 641266.
