Open day: Saturday 4 November 2023

Brighton Falmer campus
Registration opens 9.30am
Activities from 10am to 3pm

Allied health professions • Education studies • Nursing and midwifery • Sport and exercise • Teaching

We’re making changes to our Falmer campus, to provide the best environment for our student to live, learn and socialise.

From autumn 2024 all courses for the School of Sport and Health Sciences will be taught at our Falmer campus, alongside School of Education courses.

This means that at your open day you may not be able to see all of the specialist subject facilities that will be available to you when you start your course. Find out about the Falmer campus redesign.

Come and explore

  • Get an in-depth look at the subjects you are interested in and the campus you'll be based at.
  • Be inspired by the array of learning facilities on campus which include our clinical skills simulation suites, curriculum centre and explore studio.
  • Talk to staff from our student support services teams about how to make your university experience amazing.
  • Take time to experience the unique city of Brighton & Hove.

About your open day

You can arrive at this event from 9.30am, but check the time of your first booked session and try to arrive at least 30 minutes before this to allow time for registration.

All activities will start from 10am. You can go on one of our tours before or after your booked sessions, so you may want to plan your arrival time to factor this in. Take a look around our accommodation, sports centre and library, or do a self-guided campus tour.

We recommend you allow three to four hours to make the most of your visit. This is how your day might look:

  1. Register at least 30 minutes before your first session at the registration point specified in your email. Bring your booking reminder email (that we'll send to you the day before) which contains your QR code.
  2. Attend your subject talk and other booked sessions.
  3. Take tours, visit subject desks and other drop-in sessions. You can join these on the day.
  4. Head into Brighton after your open day to explore our colourful city. Show your programme at select restaurants for discounts throughout the day.

Talks, tours, taster sessions and advice desks

  • Welcome talk: an introduction to the University of Brighton.
  • Subject or course talk: these talks cover entry requirements and selection criteria, course content, delivery and assessment, work-related experience and placements, and graduate destinations.
  • Taster sessions, tours and demos: what’s on offer varies by subject and can include tours of our facilities, practical demonstrations and taster lectures.
  • Accommodation talk: this talk outlines the accommodation options we offer, how to apply and how our accommodation team can support you throughout your time here. You can also visit the accommodation desk at any time to ask specific questions.
  • Funding and finance talk: this talk provides an overview of student funding and finance including student loans, maintenance loans, tuition fees, scholarships and bursaries. You can also visit the funding and finance advice desk.
  • Accommodation and campus tours: tours of accommodation and the campus can be taken throughout the day; no need to book ahead.
  • Subject desks: where you can ask anything relating to your course of interest, will be open all day.
  • Student services and advice desks: run throughout the day for you to ask any questions you have about applying to university, careers, support and much more.

Free guest wifi is available on campus.

Guests

You’re welcome to bring guests with you on the day.

Some of our talks are very popular so, to ensure as many prospective students as possible can hear about their subject, we may ask guests not to attend the subject session.

Of course, if there is space, we will do our best to fit additional guests on the day.

Take a tour of our Falmer campus.

I LOVE the course; I couldn’t have chosen anything better to do. The best part of the course is definitely going to placements, you learn so much more being on the wards and in the community where you can begin to hone your skills. It can be so rewarding.
