Professional accreditation
This course is accredited by the Association of International Accountants (AIA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS). Graduates will be exempt from some of the foundation level exams set by these professional bodies.
About the course
Business with Economics BSc(Hons) is ideal for students wishing to study an economics course without a highly mathematical aspect to it. It equips you with the skills necessary to relate economic factors to real world issues that influence business.
On graduation you will be apply economic techniques to the strategic business planning process, use economic theory to assess market conditions, and critically appraise different business strategies.
Practical skills development is central to this course. You will gain expertise in project management, report writing, time management, presenting, budgeting, team working and leadership.
Classes are interactive with a wide variety of activities, such as presentations, decision making scenarios and lively discussions.
This three-year degree has almost the same curriculum content as the four-year Business Management with Economics BSc(Hons), but runs without the 12 month job placement.

Access to HE Diploma
pass (at least 45 credits at level 3) with 24 credits at merit or above. Must include accounting and finance, business or management.
GCSE (minimum grade C) or Access Equivalent
at least three subjects including English language and mathematics.
Foundation degree/HND
may enable you to start the course in year 2. Relevant subjects required. HNC may also count towards direct entry.
For non-native speakers of English:
IELTS 6.0, with 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in the other elements.

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2013-14. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and may be subject to small increases, in line with inflation.
The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full- or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take.
What's included in the fee?
When costs such as health or criminal record checks, field trips or use of specialist materials are incurred as a mandatory requirement of the course they are included in your tuition fee.
You may incur additional costs depending on the optional modules or activities you choose. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. Julie's professional background is in management development within the financial services sector, which involved facilitating change through objective analysis, team building and leadership.
She joined the University of Brighton in 1999 and is the Director of Business Programmes for undergraduate courses. Julie co-ordinates the Professional and Academic Skills Modules as well as teaching Managing People and Human Resource Management.
Her main academic interests are the emotional dimension of leadership including emotional intelligence and most recently combining this construct with social marketing.
In 2009 she co-authored How to Succeed at University, an essential guide to academic skills and personal development at university.
The combination of business and economics will be relevant in many business management careers, and particularly within the financial services and investment banking sectors.
