The Sport in Modern Europe network establishes, for the first time, the foundations for the writing of a comprehensive history of European sport.
The network is managed by the Principal Investigator, Dr Christopher Young (Cambridge) and two partners: Professor Richard Holt (De Montfort) and Professor Alan Tomlinson (Brighton).

The overarching aim of the network is to establish the central economic, political and social themes for the writing of a history of modern European sport, and the most appropriate methods and approaches to achieve this end. It involves three phases, each of which will culminated in a symposium:
