From June |
Check your immigration requirements and if you need to, apply for your student visa following our online guidance.

From July |
Non-UK EEA and Swiss Nationals – you need to apply for your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to access free NHS healthcare in the UK. If you are not eligible to apply for an EHIC or you plan to stay in the UK permanently, you will need to arrange private medical insurance before you come to the UK.

From August |
Complete your online enrolment on Student View from mid-August. There will be no face-to-face enrolment this year.

Book a place on our free international orientation programme.
|
From September |
Book your flight to the UK; when you arrive in the UK find out if you need to quarantine on arrival and what you need to know about self-isolation.

|
Check your vaccination history, and if required get the MMR and Men ACWY vaccines before you arrive. When you register with a UK doctor they will ask for this information.

|
Read all the new student pre-arrival info.

|
Prepare for the transition to the UK academic system. Prepare for Success is an interactive web resource which allows you to get ready to come to the UK for study.

|
Make a budget – using advice provided through UKCISA, find out how to budget your studies in the UK; with lots of useful advice on average costs for food, travel and utility bills.

|
Plan how you will get from the airport to your accommodation or campus – we have information on travelling to the UK to help you do this.
|
|
Make friends – before you arrive in the UK, you might want to post on the University of Brighton Facebook pages for new students to see if there is anyone else on your course or campus who will be arriving at the same time as you.

Get organised with your paperwork – ensure you’ve got your passport photos, acceptance letter, visa, passport, original qualification certificates and transcripts, evidence of your funding and your CAS statement email. Keep your paperwork in your hand luggage, as you will need it at UK border control.
