Collaborations

The Sports Medicine for Anti-Doping Research Group has already achieved national and international recognition given widespread collaborations and formal links with key organisations such as the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Fédération Internationale de Football Association, the International Olympic Committee, International Federation of Sports Medicine, World Anti-Doping Agency and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences. New research collaborations are now being established across many disciplines and research clusters/centres within the University of Brighton and other institutions in the UK and abroad.

Business collaborations

Strong links with companies have led to the development of new technologies and methods. A particular highlight is a Translational Medical Partnership (in view of generating a university spin-off company) is being explored with the global “omics” technology specialist Affymetrix, USA.

Professional collaborations

Researchers in the Sports Medicine for Anti-Doping Research Group sit on the scientific advisory committees of scientific societies, charities and policy makers including the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council Expert Committee Pool and the International Sports Medicine Federation (FIMS) Scientific Commission.

The opportunity to host a number of visiting scientists as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from all over the world and to attract world-leading researchers to visit our laboratory to collaborate has been strengthened by the recent award to the FIMS Reference Collaborating Centre of Sports Medicine for Anti-Doping Research. The scientific and cultural enrichment that both our visitors and we enjoy is an invaluable asset for our future and that of our partners.
