Strategic intentions of coach tour operators

The original remit of this project focused upon the strategic intentions of the coach tour operators to Eastbourne. Coach tourism makes a significant contribution to the economy of Eastbourne on several levels: a steady number of visitors throughout the year, the use of Eastbourne hotels (some of which are owned by coach operators) and visitor spending in the town and surrounding area.

Ascertaining the views of the coach operators as to the future direction of coach tourism in general and the resort of Eastbourne in particular was therefore, extremely valuable to the Borough Council. 

Project objectives

The objective of the study was to determine the future plans in terms of coach transportation to inform the strategic direction for tourism development in the Eastbourne area.

Project impact

The information obtained through the project contributes to the decision-making process of Eastbourne Borough Council (Tourism Department) in terms of the future development of Eastbourne as tourist resort.
