Students with BTEC qualifications

We welcome applications from students with BTEC diploma qualifications and those with BTEC diploma qualifications held in combination with A-levels and other qualifications.

How will a BTEC prepare me for university?

BTEC diploma qualifications provide you with valuable skills for studying at university. BTEC diplomas focus on practice-based learning and prepare students well for the applied approach, which is a characteristic of many of our courses.

During the course of a BTEC diploma many students develop research skills and experience working in a group. This experience will benefit you at university. The work-based learning, which is a feature of the majority of our courses, will also be familiar to many BTEC students.

Our placement partner-employers tell us that students who have already completed some work experience adapt particularly well to their placements.

When will my place be confirmed?

BTEC results are released in July before A-level results, which are released in mid August.

The exam board send the BTEC results to UCAS weekly from July until September. UCAS then send these results on to universities.

If you are already holding an offer of a place on a course with us and you have met the terms of our offer, your status will change from Conditional Firm (CF) to Unconditional Firm (UF) on  UCAS Hub. This process usually takes a few days.

If you receive your results before UCAS has sent them to us, your status on UCAS Hub may not have been updated yet. If you would like to confirm your place with us in the meantime you can get in touch.

Waiting for additional results?

If you have your BTEC results but are waiting to hear about other qualifications, such as A-levels, we may not be able to confirm your place at university until you have all your results.

Can I apply after I get my BTEC results?

Yes. If you have not yet applied to university, not received any offers, or if you have turned down all of your offers, you can make a new application once you have your results.

You do not need to wait until Clearing in August (when A-level results are released).
