Minimum entry requirements

The standard entry requirements for individual courses can be found on the course pages.

However, these are the minimum qualifications you need to apply to the University of Brighton.

Undergraduate degree courses

The minimum entry requirements for our undergraduate degree courses are:

  • Two A-levels and at least three GCSEs (must include mathematics and English) at a minimum grade C

OR

  • A BTEC diploma and at least three GCSEs (which must include mathematics and English) at a minimum grade C

OR

  • A combination of A-level and BTEC qualifications, for example:
  • One A level and a BTEC subsidiary diploma + at least three GCSEs (which must include mathematics and English) at a minimum grade C

OR

  • A pass in a QAA-approved access course, with at least 45 credits at level 3.

Many courses allow applicants to take two AS-levels in place of one General or Vocational A-level.

Lost GCSE or O-level certificate?

If you have lost or misplaced your original GCSE/O-level certificates, you will need to take the equivalency test or retake a GCSE.

Before you do this though, contact the school where you took the exams and ask if they have a record of your result or can tell you which exam board you took the exam with.

The exam board may be able to reprint your results.

Important advice about our entry requirements

You should be aware that:

  • Our offers will normally exceed these minimum requirements.
  • For some courses you may be required to achieve a specific grade in specific subjects.
  • Conditional offers will usually be expressed in terms of the grades required, rather than UCAS points.
