City campus

Directions

By bus

  • The central location of our City campus places it at the heart of the Brighton and Hove bus network and makes it easy to reach the site from any area of the city.
  • Visit the Brighton and Hove Company website for timetables and more on special ticket deals for students.

By bike

  • The cycle lane network provides easy access to our City campus. Cycle stands are provided at the rear of the Grand Parade, off William Street. There is a cycle cage in front of the Circus Street Annexe, accessed via Kingswood Street.

By foot/train

  • From Brighton railway station: the entrance to Trafalgar Street is on the right-hand side of the station as you leave and it runs under the station entrance area and down the hill. Follow it to the bottom of the hill and then turn right onto Grand Parade. Cross to the other side of Grand Parade and keep walking towards the sea. The university's Grand Parade building is on the left, opposite Victoria Gardens before you get to the Royal Pavilion.

By car

City campus is home to the university's arts and humanities. Other facilities on this site include the St Peter's House Library, the Sallis Benney theatre and university gallery. CENTRIM (Centre for Research in Innovation Management) is located in Dorset Place.

Our City campus is in the centre of Brighton. The campus is easily accessible on foot, bike and public transport. Car parking in the area is limited.

  • From the A23 or A27: Follow signs for the city centre and seafront. As you enter the city, a one-way system will lead you towards the sea via Grand Parade. The university's Grand Parade building is on the left, almost opposite the Royal Pavilion. Due to the site's central location, car parking is extremely limited. There are a number of signposted NCP car parks located nearby.

Parking at the university

The university encourages sustainable travel to our campuses wherever possible.

For all users, on-campus parking is limited, and spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Spaces cannot be reserved, and a space is not guaranteed.

Make sure to check local signage when using university car parks.

Visiting the university

If you are visiting the university, your University of Brighton host will need to organise a parking e-permit for you before you arrive. Make sure your e-permit has been confirmed before parking on campus.

Depending on the reason for your visit, you may need to pay for your parking.

  • Guests who are invited on campus by the university to provide a service do not need to pay. For example, guest speakers, lecturers, tutors, contractors.
  • Visitors coming on campus for job interviews, meetings or similar will need to pay. Payment is £2 payable at the parking payment machines on campus, by phone or via the JustPark app.

Your university host will be able to confirm specific details. On-campus parking is not guaranteed.

Prospective students

If you are thinking about applying to Brighton, and attending one of our on-campus events, parking will be free for you during your event. We’ll send you the details by email when we confirm your booking.

You must have booked a place at an event to be able to access free parking (where it is available).

Loading and unloading / Pick up and drop off

Thirty minutes are allowed for loading or unloading, pick up or drop off, including taxis. You do not need an e-permit.

Make sure you are parked in a general parking bag, or designated bay if you are eligible, and that you aren’t causing an obstruction. Check local signage for parking terms and conditions.

To ensure you are not issued with a parking charge notice, please do not spend more than 30 minutes on site.

Students

Parking for students is free, providing you have a valid e-permit. You’ll be able to apply for an e-permit once you are fully enrolled on your course. Find out more on the Student News blog.

Public parking

Parking is available to the public during these times.

  • Monday–Thursday 17.01pm to 06.59am
  • Friday 17.01pm to Monday 06.59am

Consecutive overnight parking is not permitted. Parking cannot be reserved and is not guaranteed. Please see local signage for information on payment options and terms and conditions.

Public parking may be restricted for Brighton & Hove Albion FC match days, university open days and for other university events.

Parking at halls

Student parking at Phoenix Halls is restricted. A valid e-permit is required at these sites and spaces are limited. Check local signage for parking restrictions and terms and conditions. You can find more detailed information regarding parking in our car parking policy.

University car parks are managed by UK Car Park Management and covered by an automatic number plate recognition camera system.

All drivers must comply with the car parking policy, where this is not the case, a parking charge notice will be served.
