Moulsecoomb campus

Moulsecoomb is our biggest campus and student village.

Over 900 students live here in our halls, Moulsecoomb Place and the new Mithras halls – Brunswick, Goldstone, Hanover, Preston and Regency.

Moulsecoomb is two miles north of Brighton city centre.

From the start of the academic year 2023–24 all School of Humanities and Social Sciences courses will be based on our Brighton Moulsecoomb campus. Check your course page for more information.

Campus transformation

The Big Build, our Moulsecoomb campus transformation, is almost complete. Since 2018 we’ve seen the site grow to include:

  • five new halls of residence with over 800 rooms at affordable rents
  • Elm House – a new home for our School of Business and Law with flexible modern learning and social spaces
  • a new home for the Students' Union and fitness facilities
  • an accessible pedestrian bridge linking both sides of our campus
  • a multi-storey bike and car parking facility.

The development has been designed and constructed to the highest environmental and sustainability standards. New green spaces with over 300 trees planted, improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists and links to public transport will add to the benefits of our Big Build.

The Big Build is part of a wider plan for the area that includes the Preston Barracks development next door with cafes, shops and workshops. Together the two projects are breathing new life into the local area for everyone who lives, works and learns here, creating jobs and bringing wider economic benefits to our city.

There’s loads of local amenities on the doorstep with a good choice of supermarkets for the weekly shop, coffee shops and cafes, takeaways and other useful shops and services close by.
