An introduction to the Advanced Engineering Centre 

The Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC) brings together researchers from across diverse engineering disciplines to develop sustainable, smart and societally relevant solutions to real-world challenges. Organised around five strategic themes, our interdisciplinary research spans clean mobility, future energy, circular manufacturing and materials, intelligent engineering and robotics, and resilient infrastructure and the built environment.

We combine experimental research, advanced modelling, artificial intelligence and systems innovation to support decarbonisation, economic growth and a resilient future. Through ambitious partnerships with industry, government and academia, we drive innovation, help shape policy and deliver transformative engineering solutions with lasting national and global impact.
