Your memories

We are looking to compile a gallery of photographs, archives and notes.

By submitting your photos and anecdotes, newspaper clippings or leaflets, you’ll be able to share your memories with other alumni and enjoy discovering others. Not only will you have somewhere special to reflect upon your time at the University of Brighton, but this could also be your opportunity to reconnect with old classmates and find out what they’re up to now.

If it is special to you, then it is special to us and other alumni too!

Please send your old pictures and memorabilia to alumni@brighton.ac.uk and we will feature them here.

Brighton Students' Association Athletic Team 1957 at the Brighton Technical College

Brighton Students Association Athletic Team 1957

Back row, left to right: Charles the Groundsman, Bob Fellingham, T French, Tom Addy, John Brooke, John Lidbetter and Peter Mercer.
Seated row, left to right: Alaister Tivey, Mike French, John Ediele, John Quartermaine and J Wright.
Front row: John Burchall.

Many thanks to Peter Mercer (Building Construction 1958) for sharing this. He would love to hear from any of the lads in the photo.

"The picture was taken at our training ground at Patcham Secondary School during the 1950s but we had many competitions against a number of Sussex clubs all of which were larger than ourselves, but we had some good athletes and we covered most events very successfully. Tom Addy and John Ediele – both from Nigeria – were good sprinters and jumpers and coupled with John Quartermain and John Burchall, we won most sprints and relays. My closest friend was Alaister Tivey as we were both javelin throwers at county level. A number of us took part in the County AAA Championships at Withdean over the years. We were awarded our athletics colours which I still treasure.”
