The University of Brighton is a unique place in a vibrant community. People come here to find and write their own story.
Curiosity and self-expression should be able to flourish without financial limits. The university provides considerable financial support to those in hardship or unexpected financial difficulties through our Student Support Funds, bursaries and small bridging loans. These help to cover the gap between student finance and living costs.
We want to go further and help students unlock opportunities that add real value to their journey and help them achieve their ambitions and goals. The Student Experience Fund has it covered whether students want to:
- travel further to go on a specialist placement
- attend a conference to network and develop employability skills
- buy specialist software, work clothes, or materials for their creative work
- gather data and research for their dissertation
- participate in a Students’ Union society or Sport Brighton team
- undertake an international experience
We don’t presume we know what every student needs, because of the diversity of our courses and the different ways students engage with their university experience. Full-time students, commuter students, part-time students, mature students, students with child care and caring responsibilities, students who balance work with their studies; all have different demands on their time and resources.
Students can apply for grants of up to £250, and if it is an international opportunity up to £1,250. All they need to do is tell us what they need funding for and how it will enhance their studies, improve their employability, or enable them to take part in their full university experience.
Your support for the Student Experience Fund is so important because it frees every student to do their best on their own terms. You will help students excel and get every opportunity to gain the skills they need to leave university with confidence, and achieve the job outcomes they want.
