Creativity, social impact and sustainability runs through Brighton and defines our university. It has an unrivalled independent spirit. It welcomes people and their ideas, no matter how unusual or out-there they may seem. We see things differently. We work together to find solutions that will be sustainable for our world and elevate everyone in society.
There is already a range of distinctive businesses operating in the region: including our innovative alumni such as independent beer start-up Bison Beer and gomi, a sustainable business that recycles plastic waste into Bluetooth speakers.
Brighton caters for a diverse, eclectic yet responsive crowd. As a university, we’re in a fantastic position to foster a sense of belonging in a community that embraces individuals, inventors and innovators. Students can access jobs, placements, mentoring and internships with start-ups, independent retailers, SMEs, and not-for-profits.
But, ideas are just the starting point. We take the future seriously. Our investment in entrepreneurship and careers programmes provide students and graduates with real-world guidance, financial backing and expert support to grow. Alongside one-to-one advice, mentoring and practical workshops, we offer funding opportunities, paid internships, and intensive entrepreneur courses.
By donating to the Entrepreneurship and Careers strand, you will be funding additional training, more one-to-one sessions and workshops, and practical, tailored resources to give our innovators fuel to take the world by storm. As well as helping build seed funds to turn ideas into reality, train more mentors and increase the number of funded internships we can offer.
With your support, we can reach our goal of empowering each student with the tools and confidence to invest in themselves and enter the market with their own competitive edge.
You can also volunteer as a mentor and add your own unique knowledge and experience to our university. Many of our brilliant alumni, local entrepreneurs, innovators and artists have already given something back to Brighton by supporting the university. Or, through your business offer a work placements, internships or live project for students to engage with.
Industry experience can catapult a student to the top of the recruitment ladder and demonstrate to an employer that a graduate can handle real life challenges.
