Ignite: seven new partnerships

The Ignite programme has resulted in seven community-university knowledge partnerships with outcomes that far exceeded expectations. This included generating significant international funding, a feature on the BBC’s Countryfile, securing local authority land for community housing, and discussions with a developer on the potential for a community arts space in a disadvantaged community.

To capture this learning we will be co-producing a new publication – the CUPP Guide. Due to be launched in early 2022, it will explore setting up community-university knowledge partnerships and how to develop a fast track programme like Ignite. All seven Ignite partnerships are featured below.

The partnership of an academic researcher, community partner and local people carrying out research was absolute gold dust. We are also now talking about how our work can inform the city-wide arts strategy.

Ignite outcomes

All seven Ignite partnerships featured above, include links to mini case studies highlighting key activities, outputs, outcomes and impacts achieved in just over six months in 2019. This information is also included in an Ignite evaluation report for our funders.

The Ignite programme demonstrated that it is possible, in a matter of weeks and months, to develop a set of new knowledge partnerships – in some cases the partners had never met before. But, just as importantly, these partnerships co-produced a set of ambitious activities with mutual benefits to communities and academics in the same time frame.
