“I’ve lived in Hastings my whole life, and I would describe it as a unique and great place to live if you’re a student. Living locally provided me with a great opportunity to study for a degree without having to leave home. The facilities for Broadcast Media students at the Hastings campus are of a high standard. Studying here I’ve been taught drama production by one of the directors of Eastenders, and script writing by an award winning script writer.”

“I live in Hastings during term times. Coming from London I have really enjoyed my stay here. The lecturers have been very supportive and helpful. When help was needed there was always someone to go to. There are great facilities here especially for my course; cameras and computers as well as books are always available, which is a relief when you have a deadline around the corner.
In Hastings everything is in walking distance which saves a lot of money on travel and there are a lot of student deals in the area, which is also great money wise.
There is always something going on in Hastings, whether it’s a themed party at one of the local clubs or bars or just a simple pub quiz night or open mic night.”

“In Hastings we get one-on-one time with our tutors. We also have top class lab facilities and a course that is developed with a massive amount of student input.
There’s something for everyone in Hastings and a lot of hidden gems if you take the time to look. There are great shops and places to eat in the old town and loads of mainstream shops, pubs, bars and a cinema in the town centre."
As well as lecture theatres, libraries and teaching rooms we also offer a state of the art science lab, radio and TV studios, a TV gallery, digital games and clinical skills suites, and a range of Mac and PC suites.
You will have access to any specialist resources and facilities relevant for your chosen course, with additional shared facilities which mean that you can often access equipment and public talks, which can enhance your studies. Thanks to our specialism in journalism and digital media we have an onsite media kit room, which offers free hire of high end media equipment. This is open to all students, whatever your chosen subject.
How to apply
Each course has its own entry requirements: make sure you check them and understand how they apply to you. Some courses such as nursing, have additional requirements, others require specific subjects or involve interview or portfolio review.
At Brighton our flexible admissions policy means we treat everyone as individuals. You should use our published entry requirements are a guide to our typical offer. However you could get a lower offer: BBC rather than BBB, for example.
When assessing your academic achievement and potential we consider exam grades, but also a range of other factors including your life experience and personal circumstances. For example mature students may be also assessed on relevant work experience.
If you need help you can also talk to us about completing your UCAS application. We understand that not everyone has easy access to support with this. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We have won awards for the support services we offer our students, from the Matrix Standard award across our university services, to commendations for staff in both student support and the library at the Hastings campus.
On-site support is provided for both academic and personal circumstances. From study skills, finance and accommodation, to studying with a disability or dependents, our teams are trained and equipped to give you the best support possible, not just while you study with us, but even before you apply.
If you are thinking of applying to us, you may be eligible for a range of bursaries and support to help fund your studies.
