The bronze award, determined by a student panel, recognises the University’s commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented students from succeeding in one of the UK’s most vibrant student cities.
Brighton Boost provides eligible students with a comprehensive package of funding and support worth up to £1,000 to assist with first-year study, accommodation, and travel costs. Since its inception, the programme has become a cornerstone of the University’s effort to help students feel secure, supported, and ready to learn.
The award was collected on behalf of the University by representatives from the Brighton Students’ Union (BSU), highlighting the collaborative nature of the initiative. Because the WUSCAs are based entirely on genuine student reviews, the accolade serves as a testament to the real-world difference the programme is making to the lives of Brighton’s diverse student community.
University of Brighton Chief Marketing and Growth Officer Jo Stuart said: "We are incredibly proud to see Brighton Boost recognized on a national stage. We know that the cost-of-living crisis is a major concern for many students. The University of Brighton remains steadfast in its mission to remove the obstacles to higher education to ensure it remains accessible to all, regardless of background.
"But while we are thrilled to bring home this Bronze award, we aren’t stopping here. Our teams are already working on exciting enhancements to the scheme for 2027 and beyond, ensuring we continue to listen to our students and provide the practical, meaningful support they need to succeed."
For prospective students looking to join the University in September 2026, applications for Brighton Boost support remain open for those who make the University their firm choice before 30 June 2026.
