The Doctoral College oversees postgraduate research which is at the forefront of the University of Brighton’s mission. The university believes in research that contributes to economic, cultural and social wellbeing, on a global scale. Our community of over 500 postgraduate research students embody this ideal, in terms of scope, depth and spatial reach of their work.
As members of the Doctoral College, research students have access to a comprehensive range of workshops and other learning opportunities, in addition to the support they receive from their supervisors and Doctoral College staff. Students also benefit from the University’s extensive regional, national and international research networks, with links to industry, public services and professional associations providing opportunities for secondments, exchanges and collaborative working.
Brighton Doctoral College is recognised by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), and the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (ESPRC) as a centre of Doctoral Training, and also by more than 25 international funding partners.
