Health

The growing healthcare burden caused by Britain’s ageing population, the increasing threat posed by antibiotic resistance and hospital-acquired infections and the worldwide rise in tuberculosis and cancer are just some of the major areas where scientists and clinicians at the university are pioneering new treatments and approaches. This research is carried out across university sites and is enhanced through collaboration with Brighton and Sussex Medical School, run jointly by the universities of Brighton and Sussex. Our 2008 publication Transforming Research looked at some of the major successes.
