  • Our offer to you

Our offer to you

Your formal offer will be sent to you by UCAS and will be displayed on your UCAS Hub.

You can also view details of your offer and any conditions in Student View.

We will also be in regular contact by email to tell you more about what you can expect at Brighton and to invite you to applicant events and other activities.

Next step: deciding which offer to accept

Meeting the conditions of your offer

If you are holding a conditional offer and we confirm your place when we receive your exam results, you can view your unconditional offer via UCAS Hub.

Mitigating circumstances

If you have been ill at any point before or during the examination period, or have any other mitigating circumstances that affected your exam performance, you should submit full details to the examination board via your school or college as soon as possible.

You can also choose to share details of these mitigating circumstances by messaging us through Student View. If you are concerned and want to talk to someone, get in touch with our course enquiries team.

Your offer of admission to the University of Brighton is based on the information you submitted as part of your UCAS application, and any additional information we request from you.

If any of the information you have provided proves to be incorrect, we reserve the right to review and possibly withdraw your offer of admission.

Offer for a different course

Alternative course offers

Your offer may be for a different course to that you originally applied for.

There are a number of reasons why we make you an alternative course offer. You may have asked us to make the change, or you might have used an incorrect course code on your application.

We may have made you an alternative course offer because we are unable to offer you a place on your first choice course but we believe that your application demonstrates your potential to succeed at Brighton.

Please give our offer of a place on an alternative course serious consideration.

How we make alternative  offers

We assess each applicant individually, for some courses this includes assessment of a creative portfolio. If we make you an alternative offer, we will select a course that we believe will be relevant and of interest to you. This decision is based on several factors which can include:

  • personal statement
  • your portfolio if you have shared one with us
  • the subjects you have studied
  • the qualifications you have achieved, and
  • your work experience.

You can find out more about the course you have been given as an alternative offer on the course finder on our website, by attending an applicant day on campus (we'll send you an invite) and by speaking to the course team.

Help and support with your alternative offer

Receiving an alternative offer can come as a surprise and initially you may feel confused or disappointed. If you are made an alternative course offer we would be happy to arrange a call  to discuss your options and answer any questions you have about your new course offer.

We always try to make alternative offer courses that you will enjoy, though we understand that we may not always get this right first time. If you feel the alternative course we have chosen is not a good match for you get in touch with the course enquiries team with your full name, student number and the course you would like to be considered for.

PLEASE NOTE if you have been made an alternative course offer you cannot be re-considered for the course you originally applied for this year, and you would need to apply for the course again next year.

Deferred entry

If your point of entry or start date is 2026, then your offer is for deferred entry.

This means that you must still satisfy the conditions of your offer by 31 August 2025 and if you are successful in meeting those conditions, or if your offer is unconditional, a place will be reserved for you to start your course in September 2026.

You should apply for accommodation and funding for the academic year 2025–2026.

If you change your mind and wish to join us in September 2025 instead, then please write to us immediately.
