About this scholarship

How to apply

There is no application process as these scholarships are awarded on the basis of students' academic performance in end-of-year assessments. This is decided within the academic school after the examination boards have met.

Receipt of scholarships

These scholarships are paid in the autumn of the year they are awarded. They are partly funded by the university's ambassadors group.

Support levels may vary on a yearly basis

Our sports scholarship scheme is designed to help student develop their full sporting potential to train and complete at the highest level.

We have two different types of sports scholarships:

Elite athletes / Elite disabled athletes scholarships

These sports scholarships are for students who have reached a national level of competition or performance and have the potential and dedication to reach world-class performance level.

Talented sports performers scholarship

These are for students who have represented their sport at national or regional level or who are able to demonstrate that they have the potential to compete at these levels.

Swimming students

Elite athletes / elite disabled athletes

  • Free access to the university sport facilities
  • Financial support (up to £1000 for the academic year)
  • Performance T-shirt
  • Access to workshops (nutrition, fitness training, technique analysis and sports psychology)
  • Strength and Conditioning support
  • Sport Science support
  • Physical Performance testing
  • Reduced rate access to physiotherapy support
  • Reduced rate access to sport massage treatments
  • A mentor to help with lifestyle management
  • Access to University of Brighton sports coaches (where available)
  • Links to external clubs through our extensive partnership network

Who is eligible to apply?

  • You should have reached a junior or senior national level of competition or performance and have the potential and dedication to reach world-class performance level (or equivalent) in your sport.
  • You should have been accepted on a University of Brighton course or be a current student of the university, or a directly funded course at a partner college.

Talented sports performers

  • Access to workshops (nutrition, fitness training, technique analysis and sports psychology)
  • Strength and Conditioning support
  • Sport Science support
  • Physical Performance testing
  • Reduced rate access to physiotherapy support
  • Reduced rate access to sport massage treatments
  • A mentor to help with lifestyle management
  • Access to University of Brighton sports coaches (where available)
  • Links to external clubs through our extensive partnership network

Who is eligible to apply?

  • You should have represented your sport at national or regional level or be able to demonstrate that you have the potential to compete at these levels (please note county representation is not a sufficient standard).
  • You should have been accepted on to a University of Brighton course or be a current student of the university.
