Why Brighton for sport and exercise degrees

At Brighton, you’ll join a learning community of elite coaches and world-leading researchers. You’ll learn in specialist labs and sport facilities and build your skills and knowledge through placements, and consultancy projects to prepare for a rewarding career in health and sports performance. Work experience is built into our sport and exercise courses through a core module which incorporates a work placement, and the optional placement year in industry.

Our sport courses are endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), so you can be confident you are learning the skills employers have identified as most valuable.

A Sport and Exercise degree at Brighton will enable you to:

  • Build professional confidence and contacts through placement and volunteering opportunities, and community projects.
  • Gain industry insight through live client projects, guest speakers, and field trips that let you get a feel for what the working world is like.
  • Develop practical skills and expertise through extensive hands-on learning with specialist equipment and facilities.

Brighton’s graduates go on to work as sport physiologists, strength and conditioning coaches, community coaches, performance analysts, exercise referral specialists, sport psychologists and more.

Facilities on your course

We have extensive specialists labs and equipment including:

  • biochemistry lab with running track and 3D motion analysis
  • blood analysis, kinanthropometry, psychology, physiology, and neuromusculuar labs
  • environmental physiology lab housing dual temperature and hypoxi environmental chamber
  • strength and conditioning suite
  • exercise rehabilitation gym

You’ll also have access to our sports facilities that include outdoor grass football pitches, floodlit synthetic pitches and courts, indoor swimming pool, large fitness suite and sports hall with netball, volleyball, basketball and badminton course and cricket nets.
