Director of People and Culture
As Director of People and Culture, Vicky is responsible for the university’s People strategy.
Vicky Chart joined the University of Brighton in 2021, progressing through key leadership roles, from Head of Employee Relations to Deputy Director of People before stepping into her current position in October 2025.
As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Vicky brings expertise from both public and private sectors including the NHS and the blue-light sector where she has a proven track record in strategy and policy development and workforce transformation. Her areas of expertise include employment law and extensive union negotiation and consultation at a national level.
In her role as Director, Vicky champions staff wellbeing, equity, aligning the People strategy with the university’s vision and values to support both academic excellence and nurturing workplace culture.
