Support for SMEs

Got a challenge? Let’s work on it.

Solve your toughest challenges and unlock the potential of AI in your organisation.

We work with a range of partners, from SMEs to global organisations like Bosch, to make AI more practical, reliable and ready for real-world use. Our expertise spans robotics and autonomous systems, AI and digital transformation, applied computing and mathematical modelling, and inclusive digital innovation, across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, transport and smart technologies.

Our work helps organisations automate processes, improve performance and develop new solutions using tools built around real-world needs. The result is AI that delivers value while remaining transparent, fair and trusted.

Talk to us and we’ll connect you with the right people to make it happen.

Early use of AI helped Family Law Partners to improve how they support families at some of the most challenging moments in their lives. The approach was later adopted by law firms across the UK and recognised nationally with an Innovate UKs Business Impact Award.

Putting AI to work in legal practice

100% top-rated research impact

In computer science and informatics, 100% of our research impact is assessed as ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’ in terms of its reach and significance in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework.

Extend your in-house capability

Get more from your in-house capability with access to specialist facilities, advanced technology and expert support.

Work with our technical teams to test, prototype and develop ideas more quickly, using industry-grade equipment without the overhead of in-house investment.

Specialist facilities include robotics and mechatronics labs, VR labs, a CISCO cybersecurity and communications lab, and prototyping labs and workshops.

Fresh thinking. Real impact.

Access skilled students and graduates ready to contribute from day one. Bring fresh thinking into your business, add capacity through placements and live projects, and make progress on challenges you’ve been putting off. You can work with our students in a way that suits your organisation, from short, focused projects to year-long placements, all designed to deliver real outcomes.

We have strong, established partnerships with industry across our teaching and research, and we’re always looking to build new ones.

Our students benefit from industry-informed learning, from visits and guest lectures to designing and building projects, taking part in competitions and applying their skills. Recent examples include developing a low-power, long-range wireless sensor network and creating a real-time algorithm to detect anomalies in ECG data.

You can also play a direct role in developing future skills, or tap into our students’ enthusiasm and fresh thinking to move your projects forward. Get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
