Higher and Degree Apprenticeships

The University of Brighton has been developing and delivering higher and degree-level apprenticeships since 2016. These programmes are designed by employers for employers, and meet the needs of business and public-sector employers whilst improving staff productivity, development, and retention within the United Kingdom.

Higher and degree apprenticeships are for new and existing employees over the age of 18 who want to get ahead in the workplace and gain a nationally recognised qualification. Our apprentices combine work with part-time university study and develop through on-the-job learning with work-based projects relevant to your organisation.

From September 2020, all courses and apprenticeships will offer synchronous and asynchronous, face-to-face and digital learning.

If you have any questions regarding apprenticeship programmes at the university, please get in touch at apprenticeships@brighton.ac.uk.

Functional Skills

Functional Skills are a mandatory part of all apprenticeship programmes, these are often achieved at GCSE level. Many of our apprenticeship programmes require them at entry but, in some cases, where applicants do not have evidence of one of the approved proxy qualifications, they can be studied as part of the apprenticeship. This should be completed before the start of the academic award, or during the first year of study with our further education partner Functional Skills UK.
