Momentum is a mentoring programme designed to build students’ confidence and boost employability. Students are matched with a volunteer professional who is trained to support you in working towards goals and building confidence.
Who can apply?
Momentum is for Black Asian Minority Ethnic students, students who have a disability, care leavers, men in receipt of a bursary and students who are in need of a confidence boost.
What’s the time commitment?
The time commitment is 12 hours over six months starting in late November and finishing in May (equivalent to an hour’s meeting every two weeks). There will also be an evening training session in November which is essential for the programme.
Is it online or face to face?
Momentum is a face to face mentoring programme because developing a supportive relationship with your mentor is important.
Will my mentor be able to help me with my studies?
Mentors are people with a professional background who are there to support you and who may share insights from their professional experience. They are not subject specialists.
Am I guaranteed a mentor?
We cannot 100% guarantee a match as there may be a different number of students apply than there are mentors available. However we will do our best to match you.
