Heritage (inc. galleries and museums)

How do I get into it?

The cultural heritage industry includes 6,000 organisations which range from small volunteer run to large public sector and independent institutions. There is high demand for a limited number of paid entry-level positions. (Creative Choices)

Museums and galleries increasingly look to position themselves at the heart of local communities and as a result call on a range of specialist skills and experience. There is still a role for what we think of as traditional museum professionals, but museums look for transferable skills and employ other professionals, including educators, craftspeople, designers, technicians, fundraisers and business people. (Museums Association).
