Working in the UK

Finding a part-time job

International students

If you are an international student, your visa will tell you if you can work in the UK and how many hours you are permitted to work per week.

If you are unsure, contact our International Student Support Team, or you can visit the UK Government or UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) websites.

EU students and Brexit

To date, there has been no change to the rights and status of EU nationals in the UK as a result of the EU membership referendum.

Finding a graduate job

The UK job market offers particular challenges for non-EU graduates looking to work in the UK after completing their studies. Find out more about your legal rights and obligations, and get help to identify potential sources of job opportunities.

  • Working in the UK after your studies by UKCISA includes information on current government schemes for international graduates, changes to legislation, job hunting advice, family members' rights and more.
  • A register of Tier 2 and Tier 5 sponsors is available from gov.uk. This lists employers who have previously sponsored applicants. It does not guarantee that they will sponsor future applications.
