Music plays a vital role in shaping and reflecting our human experience. It enriches our emotions, contributes to cultural identity, fosters social connections, provides entertainment, communicates stories and makes a huge contribution to the economy. 

Whether you are a music creative or an aspiring media professional, we’ll help you gain the relevant knowledge, skillset, and practical experience to make your passion a fulfilling creative career. 

At Brighton we offer two sound and music degree courses: an innovative, practice-based electronic music degree, and a theory-based music industry media degree:

  • Electronic Music and Sound BA(Hons)

Specialist equipment and facilities

Students studying digital music have access facilities including surround sound studios, a two-channel sound studios, recording booths synced to sound studios, a dedicated computer suite, electronic mash-up workshop area, multi-channel A-V sound diffusion lab field recording equipment and specialist software.

Vocational and creative

Both sound and music degree courses are excellent preparation for careers in the music industry. You will have opportunities to showcase your work and on the media course you will work on live projects and go on a four-week industry placement.
