Brighton graduate named among young global entertainment stars

University of Brighton alumnus Omar Meho has been listed alongside a host of star names in a prestigious new Top 30 Under 30 list by Forbes.

9 June 2022

Omar graduated from University of Brighton with BSc (Hons) Business Management with Marketing in 2018, before going on to open his Music Workflow Academy in 2020. This pioneering school based in Chester teaches aspiring performers how to produce music and DJ, and has earned Omar a place on the Forbes list in the Entertainment Europe category alongside the likes of World Cup winning footballer Kylian Mbappe, social media sensation Khaby Lame, Eurovision winners Maneskin, and Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley.

Since opening, over 30,000 students from more than 150 countries have taken courses at Omar's academy, with many going on to land DJ sets and record deals. The academy has also been picked out as the best Music Production and DJ school both in the UK and globally at the UK's SME Awards and Corporate LiveWire Awards.

Omar Meho, Director of Music Workflow Academy, said: “I initially chose to go to the University of Brighton because the city has the most electronic and dance music events per capital in the UK. And it really paid off. I performed every week alongside doing my degree, and got so much out of the experience.

I started Music Workflow Academy during lockdown, and currently have 41,000 students around the world learning how to DJ. Music and business are kind of polar opposites, and many people really struggle with marketing themselves. Reaching the Forbes 30 under 30 is just a dream come true, and my degree has been instrumental in this success.

To draw on learnings I gained from my degree and turn it into such an exciting business has been a really incredible journey. I would also like to thank my course mates, lecturers and staff at the University of Brighton - and wish every graduate good luck for the future.”
