University of Brighton celebrates top UK rankings and outstanding student feedback in National Student Survey 2025

Brighton’s National Student Survey (NSS) 2025 results highlight top national rankings and strong student positivity.

The University of Brighton is delighted to announce a series of outstanding results in the latest National Student Survey 2025, with several subjects achieving top national rankings and recording exceptional levels of student positivity.

The NSS results, based on feedback from final-year undergraduates, reveal that the University of Brighton has secured multiple number one positions in several areas, reflecting a strong commitment to teaching quality and academic support.

Highlights at subject level from the NSS 2025 include:

  • Economics at Brighton ranked 1st in the UK for both teaching and academic support.
  • Music at Brighton ranked 1st in the UK for teaching.
  • Software Engineering at Brighton ranked 1st in the UK for academic support.
  • Ecology and Environmental Biology ranked 1st in the UK for academic support.
  • Social Sciences at Brighton ranked 1st in the UK for academic support.

In addition to these leading results, several other subjects demonstrated strong performance with multiple rankings in the UK’s top ten:

  • Teacher Training at Brighton secured a remarkable seven top 10 rankings, including 2nd in the UK for assessment and feedback and 5th for teaching.
  • Aerospace Engineering ranked in the top 10 for teaching, academic support, and student voice.
  • Building ranked 3rd in the UK for learning resources.

The survey also highlighted exceptional feedback on individual courses, with students praising the quality of instruction. In particular, a number of courses received 100% positivity scores for key questions. In total, the university received 2,556 responses, resulting in a response rate of 74.8%. 

Dr David Walker, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students), said: "These fantastic NSS 2025 results are a testament to the dedication of our academic and Professional Services staff who work tirelessly to create an intellectually stimulating and supportive environment for our students.

"Our top rankings and high positivity scores reflect the university’s focus on providing an outstanding education and a positive student experience. We are incredibly proud of these achievements and the hard work that has made them possible."

The University of Brighton continues to build on these successes, using student feedback to further enhance its courses and services and ensure it remains a leading institution for student positivity and academic excellence.
