Welcome to the 14th issue of the news publication, published in Spring 2023 as the Research and Knowledge Exchange Magazine, and introduced by our Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange), Professor Rusi Jaspal.
I am delighted to write the introduction to the latest edition of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Magazine.
At the University of Brighton, we are proud of our research and knowledge exchange activity, which enriches our teaching, drives important partnerships and collaborations, and produces new knowledge and positive societal impact.
Published last year, the results of the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF2021) show that the University’s researchers have produced research rated as 'world-leading' and our Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategic Plan 2022-2025 outlines our aim to cultivate excellence, recognise and nurture talent, invest in sustained impact, and grow our international collaborations. In this magazine, we share stories about just some of the initiatives and work in progress bringing these aspirations to life.
Our significant contribution to advancing research and knowledge exchange is only possible through the collective efforts of our groundbreaking research teams, outstanding professional services staff and engaged partners. Together, we address global challenges, tackling climate change, improving equality and inclusivity, enhancing wellbeing and promoting creative and sustainable economies, in our region, across the UK and around the world.
We value our vibrant, agile research community, supporting our established experts and nurturing the next generation of talent from our thriving postgraduate and early career researchers.
Discover more in the following articles that shine a light on how we are making a tangible, positive impact on people’s lives and transforming the world around us.
I am grateful to everyone making a contribution to our achievements. I hope that you find this issue informative and inspiring.
