Book your place on an online subject taster

Join our online subject taster sessions and experience engaging introductions to a range of subjects from our academics.

The sessions are aimed at students in year 12/first year of sixth form/college, but anyone is welcome to attend. Each event will be held on Microsoft Teams from 5-6pm. You may need to download the Teams app if you are joining on your phone from Google Play or from the App Store.

Exploring psychology and mental health: nature, nurture, or both?

Tuesday 10 February 2026, 5-6pm

Why do we act the way we do? To what degree is our behaviour determined by nature (our genetics or biology) rather than our nurture (our environment, social circles, etc.)? Join us to explore the influence that both can have on our lives, focusing on mental health conditions to help explain just what makes us who we are.

Studying pharmacy: a case study on asthma

Wednesday 25 February 2026, 5-6pm

In this session we’ll dive into a case study on asthma and get hands-on with what pharmacy students do.  Find out about the importance of developing practical skills, such as how to formulate drug solutions, measure lung function, and teach patients how to properly use inhalers. You’ll discover how studying pharmacy at Brighton prepares students for their future roles as healthcare professionals.

What's it like to study podiatry and physiotherapy, and what practical skills will you learn?

In this hands-on session, you’ll explore two fascinating professions - podiatry and physiotherapy. Discover how to carry out practical assessments within podiatry by trying out real activities like checking a patient’s blood flow, skin health and mobility. Learn how physiotherapists help with balance and prevent falls and take part in some fun activities to see what it’s really like. Exploring the notion of space law: who owns outer space?

Thursday 26 March 2026, 5-6pm

International space law is built on three core principles: no one can own space, it must be used peacefully, and activities should benefit all humankind. These ideas were established in the 1960s, at a time before iPhones, artificial intelligence, commercial space companies, reusable rockets, or billionaires sending spacecraft into orbit. So how do these rules apply today in a rapidly changing space age? This session will explore how space law is evolving to address the realities of modern space exploration.
