Fee information for current students

How much will my fees be?

Mandatory requirements for your course are covered by the tuition fees. These include things such as health or criminal record checks, specialist materials and mandatory field trips.

Optional field trips, accommodation and course materials are not included in the tuition fees and you will need to pay for these yourself. Please contact the school that delivers your course about possible extra costs before you apply.

CourseAnnual fees
Undergraduate honours degree £9,250
Placement year* £1,500
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Brighton and Sussex Medical School) See BSMS website

*Many of our courses include the option of a salaried placement year.

The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time.

Full-time students

The fees listed here are for full-time courses beginning in the academic year 2024–25. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee.

Part-time students

If you are studying part-time your annual fees will normally on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take each year and their credit value.

Island students

Students from the Isle of Man and Channel Islands who have lived in the islands or UK for three years are eligible for UK/Home fee status. Please contact your island education office for information on the financial support available to you. Island students are not eligible for student funding from the UK government.

  • Island of Jersey
  • Isle of Man
  • States of Guernsey.

Paying your fees

If you have a student loan, the Student Loan Company will pay the fees to the university. However, you will need to provide us with written proof before the start of your course that you have been granted a loan.

Whether you take out a student loan or not, your tuition fees for the year must be paid to the university at the start of your course. This is your responsibility.

You will be required to pay your fees yourself if you cannot provide written proof that your fees will be paid on your behalf by the Student Loan Company, your employer or another sponsor.

How to pay your fees

Fees for students at partner colleges

The University of Brighton validates university-level courses which are taught at our partner colleges. If you are enrolled on one of these courses, your fees and eligibility for funding will be different.

If you are undertaking a University of Brighton course at one of our partner colleges, check their website for details of the fees you will pay.
