Start, develop or change your career

Postgraduate study develops your skills, supports your career progression and allows for personal development.

Raise your game in 2025 and work towards the career and salary you deserve.

Postgraduate information session

3–6pm Wednesday 12 February 2025

There’s no better way to explore your study opportunities and find out more about postgraduate study and research at Brighton than by meeting our lecturers, researchers and students at a Postgraduate information session on one of our campuses.

Our next postgraduate information session will take place on Wednesday 12 February across all three Brighton campuses.

What to expect

  • Finance and admissions talks
  • Subject desks or talks with course leaders on hand to give you advice, guidance and information about our courses
  • Student support services desks with friendly and knowledgeable staff available to advise you on all matters related to the admissions process and our other student support services (Moulsecoomb campus)
  • Guided campus tours with one of our student ambassadors
  • Our Doctoral College will be at this event, so you can talk to us about studying a research degree.

How postgraduate study can help you achieve your goals

Enhanced earning potential

A masters won't just help you to get a job, it will also help you to earn more money. Students with a postgraduate degree can expect to earn £5,000 more a year than those with just a bachelor's – that's around £200,000 in a working lifetime (source: gov.uk).

Career-changing possibilities

You could use a postgraduate degree to change career. Not every course requires you to have studied the subject before. We offer career-changing courses in law, teaching, physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, social work and journalism.

Career progression

A masters is an opportunity to build on your knowledge and become an expert in your discipline; you’re also more likely to be in high-skilled employment. 79% of working-age postgraduates are in high-skilled employment, compared with 66% of working-age graduates (source: gov.uk).

At Brighton, we've got you covered:

120+

choose from
Flexible

What our graduates say

John Yates profile picture

John Yates, Law CPE

"I use many of the skills taught to me on a daily basis in my professional career, particularly when analysing complex commercial or IP-related issues.

Following a great two years at Brighton, I sailed through law school with distinctions in all subjects and landed a training contract with the south east's top-ranked law firm, DMH Stallard."

Victor Chinyemba Turner

Victor Chinyemba, Data Analytics MSc

“I worked in the oil and gas industry for seven years as Information and Data Management Lead for BP. I chose to do a postgraduate course to make myself more competitive, and most importantly to add on to my knowledge base with new knowledge and skills.

The University of Brighton is the best choice I have ever made.”

Lucy Breen profile picture

Lucy Breen, Education MA

"The course structure complemented working full-time as a teacher, so it never felt like too much.

The senior managers at my work were interested in my studies and during the final stage of my masters they interviewed me to be Year One Leader. The experience I gained from my masters helped me answer the interview questions with more insight – and I got the job!"

Brighton student or graduate?
