Compact Plus bursary

About this bursary

This bursary is for full-time undergraduate students resident in England who have participated in the University of Brighton Compact Plus programme and who started their course in September 2017. It is worth £1,000 a year and is available from second year onwards.

*You may be eligible for the University of Brighton bursary in Year 1. You do not need to repay a University of Brighton bursary.

Depending on your circumstances, you could be eligible to receive further bursaries and financial support from the University of Brighton. If you are in hardship you can apply for additional help from the Student Support Fund in every year of your course.

Payment dates

The annual bursary will be paid in two instalments: 16 January and 2 May.

Who is eligible?

You are eligible for a Compact Plus bursary if you:

  • have participated in the University of Brighton Compact Plus programme
  • are studying on a full-time undergraduate course
  • are normally resident in England and have been assessed as eligible to receive full funding from Student Finance England
  • have been eligible to receive the University of Brighton bursary in your first year of study
  • have a household income up to and including £25,000 a year and
  • started your course in September 2017.

Your eligibility for this bursary will be re-assessed each academic year.

Exceptions

Occupational Therapy and Paramedic Practice courses have different tuition fee and funding arrangements. Students on these courses do not qualify for the University of Brighton Compact Plus bursary.

Some social work students are eligible to receive NHS bursaries in years 2 and 3 of their courses. Social work students who receive these bursaries are not eligible for University of Brighton Compact Plus bursary either.

Students in receipt of the Care leaver's bursary are not eligible for the University of Brighton Compact Plus bursary
