Scholarships and awards

The Student Potential Fund is our spark that ignites futures and empowers students like you to achieve their goals by funding four key areas: scholarships, wellbeing, student experience, and entrepreneurship through the opportunities listed below.

These funds are donated by graduates, staff, and friends of the university through the Student Potential Fund to empower students like you to achieve your goals during your studies and beyond. The Student Potential Fund offers scholarships, grants to advance your studies and employability, as well as kick-starter funding for new business ideas.

Whatever journey you are on, our community is here to help you stay curious and put what you’re learning into practise.

The value of receiving a scholarship or award made possible by the Student Potential Fund does more than give you a financial boost. It is a fantastic accomplishment that can help you stand out when you are applying for jobs or progressing to postgraduate study.

Scholarships by subject of study

There are a number of scholarships for undergraduate students studying subjects such as STEM, health sciences, journalism, business or law.

Progression scholarships

Support for Home/UK first year undergraduate students from low-income backgrounds and/or those whose heritage is Black or Black Mixed.

Experience and employability

Access funding to help you take up an employment opportunity, participate in a study trip or be part of a university team or society.

Academic awards and prizes

These are awarded to the highest achieving students.

Entrepreneurship

Sports scholarships

You can apply for a sports scholarship in any year of your undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
