Working with the GGP

Below are some examples of the ways in which the Green Growth Platform can help support ideas and plans for growth in the environmental sector.

Peace Marsh renewables

Specialising in independent advice on energy efficiency using latest technologies, Peace Marsh Renewables are a Green Growth Platform member with ambition to grow.

The company is currently working with a retrofit technology that improves the efficiency of air conditioning units saving up to 40% on electrical consumption, Coolnomix.

With the help of the Green Growth Platform business support manger,  Lorraine Bell, Peace Marsh were able to develop their business planning and connect with Grants for Eco-Innovation.

They've also took advantage of the platforms events programme, making connections at business breakfasts and attending training courses on raising green investment and marketing. Through the support of the GGPs network they've also been able to secure a trial of their air conditioning technology with a major local business.

Peace Marsh has ambitions to grow quickly and plan to expand their team. Since securing the UK distribution of Coolnomix, Director Steve Peace describes how they've hit the ground running:

This wouldn't have happened so quickly without the Green Growth Platform input.

Waterblade

Nigel Bamford worked with the Green Growth Platform to get his innovative idea flowing!

The product is called Waterblade, it fits to a tap and reduces water consumption by up to twice as much as a standard eco aerating nozzle. Inventor Nigel Bamford worked closely with the Green Growth Platform over a few months to develop his idea.

With support from the Green Growth Platform, Nigel won funding that allowed him to work with the University of Brighton’s product design specialists on tweaking his prototype to maximise functionality.

Nigel has also made some key connections with large companies in the water industry, including a major global supplier of bathroom fittings who has expressed interest in exclusive rights.

He has also had the opportunity to deliver a presentation on Waterblade at the national Water Efficiency Conference hosted by the university.

Nigel’s’ next step will be to work with one of the GGP's specialist business coaches to explore opportunities around commercialisation and obtain Water Regulations Advisory Scheme approval for the product.

Many thanks GGP, for being instrumental in making this happen!

Blackbox Energy

BlackBox Energy brings together a wide range of energy saving products and services for householders and businesses.

The Green Growth Platform helped them to develop their growth plan through 1-2-1 business coaching, providing support to a successful application for a Coast to Capital (C2C) grant that enabled the company to expand.

In a big year of growth, the company has created seven full-time jobs, three of which have been part funded Green Growth Platform internship scheme. They’ve also secure a large nationwide commission and provide work for 18 sub-contractors.

Blackbox said: "I would very much recommend the Green Growth Platform and C2C to any business owner."

When we launched our Green Deal advice, installation and software services business, the industry landscape presented major opportunities….we have been able to succeed with the help and support of the Green Growth Platform mentoring services, and the Coast 2 Capital funding.

Matt Dowling, Managing Director

Organic Roofs

Organic Roofs are a green roof installer with big ambitions to expand their business, develop innovations in their industry and improve the biodiversity of urban spaces.

The business has taken on a Green Growth Platform intern specialising in graphic design to develop marketing collateral, and taken advantage of the platforms high growth 1-2-1 coaching support, gaining a formal overview of their business and consultancy on business development and technical sales strategies.

The GGP has also helped make connections with key stakeholders for the business, such as housing associations and Coast 2 Capital.

Organic Roofs are an ambitious company with steady growth forecast over the next few years. They plan to work with the GGP in developing projects on biodiversity, green roofs and solar PV and the use of recycled materials in the foundations of green roofs.
